FAQ – Private One on One

Who is this experience suitable for?

This experience is ideal for non-swimmers, nervous swimmers, or anyone who is not confident in the ocean. It is also a great option for guests looking for a more private and personalised snorkeling experience.

Guests aged 6 and over can participate.

No. Swimming experience is not required for the private one-on-one experience. Your qualified guide stays with you throughout the activity and provides flotation equipment to help you feel safe and comfortable in the water.

Yes. You can bring up to 2 additional guests, for a maximum of 3 people per group.

Any additional guest who joins a non-confident swimmer must be a confident swimmer, able to swim 100 metres unassisted in the ocean and swim independently for up to 40 minutes.

The experience lasts approximately 1 hour and takes place at Shelly Beach, Manly, within the protected Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Sanctuary.

Meeting point: 1 Marine Parade, Manly, NSW 2095.

The experience includes:

Please bring a towel, water bottle, sunscreen and wetsuit. Water temperatures can range from 14°C to 25°C.

Wetsuits are available to rent for AUD $20 for the duration of the tour. Underwater photos are also available for an additional AUD $35 per person.

The experience operates in most weather conditions, but may be cancelled if conditions become unsafe, including lightning, very rough seas, hazardous surf or dangerous currents.

If the tour is cancelled, you can reschedule for free, receive a 3-month credit voucher, or request a refund if you cannot reasonably use either option.

Guests can cancel up to 72 hours before the scheduled start time to be eligible for a refund, subject to the applicable refund policy.

Please arrive on time. There is a strict 15-minute cut-off, and late guests may not be able to join once the guide has headed to the water.

Who can join the tour?

The tour is available for guests aged 6 and over and is exclusively for confident swimmers. All participants must be able to swim 100 metres unassisted in the ocean and continue swimming independently for at least 40 minutes. A brief in-water swimming assessment is conducted at the beginning of the tour.

The private tour includes up to 6 people for a flat rate of AUD $690. You can add up to 6 additional guests for AUD $115 per person, with a maximum of 12 people per group.

The snorkeling experience lasts approximately 1 hour and takes place at Shelly Beach, Manly, within the protected Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Sanctuary.

From Sydney, one of the best options is to take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf. From Manly Wharf, walk through The Corso toward Manly Beach, then follow the coastal path to Shelly Beach.

The walk takes approximately 20 minutes. We recommend allowing around 30 minutes to enjoy the walk and arrive on time.

The Open Group Snorkel Tour accommodates up to 18 guests with 3 qualified instructors. This is a shared experience, making it a great option for meeting other ocean lovers.

The experience lasts approximately 1 hour and takes place at Shelly Beach, Manly, within the protected Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Sanctuary.
